Commercial name: methyl methacrylate(MMA)
Formula: CH2C(CH3)COOCH3
Process: acetone cyanohydrin
Properties: MMA is combined complex monomer in a double bon of C=C and a carbonyl. The polymers made from MMA show an excellent transparence, mechanical strength and aging behavior.
Boiling point: -48℃
Freezing point: 10℃
Ignition point : 430℃
Refractive index N(20℃ ) : 1.415
Specific heat (liquid) : 250kj/kg℃
Package: railway tankers/cistern truck. Or in 190kg galvanized iron drum net.
Shipping and storage: MMA is of dangerous and flammable cargo, which must be kept away from insolution, rain and fire during transportation. MMA is liable to become polymerized in light and heat, it must be stored in refrigerating warehouse in which temperature is below 10℃ . Before transportation, the inhibitor topanol A, or other desighated inhibitors must be injected so as to avoid polymerization. Storage time is limited less than 3 months. When MMA spills over, extinguish any fire or sparkles first, then absorb the spilled liquid by dry sand or other permitted materials. MMA is of low toxicity. The professional permitted exposure limit is 100ppm. It may cause anaesthesia by inhalation of large volume of volatilization. It is irritative to nose and eye. Go to physicians immediately once accidentally it is inhaled, touched or swallowed.
